Moon's Out; Meth's Out
Summer Solstice AND a full moon?! The woo-woo's are going nuts right now.
Do a little search on YouTube and you'll find all of the spiritual gurus talking about the meaning of these two events together and how to take advantage of the placement for your life.
(By the way, I'm also a woo-woo π... albeit a self-proclaimed practical one. I am using this time to move a block out of my system. A block on receiving. I'll tell you all about this in a later letter.)
Let me tell you what I know to be true statistically:
There are more relapses on weekends with full moons than any other time segment during the year.
That is based on my own data from the men I coach and the ones who reach out to me for support.
Whether or not you believe in astrology or roll your eyes when I talk about moon cycles, there is something about a full moon that affects human behavior. Listen, we are talking about an object that pulls the ocean back every day. If the moon can affect the waters of the sea, why couldn't it affect our bodies, which are made mostly of water?
Why am I sending this email?
Because as I type it is Friday and a full moon. I have blocked off most plans over the weekend in case my clients need support. They are GOING to be triggered, there is no doubt about it. And you might be as well.
This is a time when your nervous system is going to want to repeat cycles. Just like the moon. We are a part of nature's cycles too.
I want you to put safety measures in place:
β Make plans you can't get out of;
β Tell your support network to check in with you more than usual;
β Build an intensive accountability plan with someone;
β Put parental controls on your phone;
β Block dealers and user friends;
β Take some time right now to meditate and ground;
β JOURNAL- write down every single thing you are thinking and feeling;
β Review your journal and anchor into your accomplishments so far;
β Make a video to yourself of why you want to stay sober;
β Have a friend stay over at your house (don't stay with a friend because you'll be tempted to sneak out);
β Look up videos on YouTube of interviews with meth addicts;
β Listen to The AfterMeth Podcast π
β Watch some modules from my free Reframing Relapse Course.
Ask yourself: who am I? A meth user or a former meth user. Answering that question with conviction will help you make decisions over the weekend.
What have I missed? What safeguards do you put into place? Reply and let me know.
Ok, love you guys.
